“Thank you for giving us a place to stop and be still. For a chance to recharge and reconnect.”

Sandi and her husband adopted their granddaughter Alexia when she was one year old. When she was 15 she was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma and started chemotherapy at the Cleveland Clinic which is 200 miles from their home. For one year she and I lived in Cleveland with short trips home while she did chemo, surgery, radiation. They also have a son who is disabled who lives with us.

In June of 2021 Sandi’s older daughter Kim was diagnosed with lung cancer and brain tumors. She was her right hand during Lexi’s treatment since her husband couldn’t be. She has 4 children and is separated from her husband.

“I too, have been tossed by the storms of life…just like my beautiful broken shell. But I am reminded that broken shells don’t stand alone. Thank you Lord for filling my life with people who care.”
